ICICI Bank respects your privacy
Today when I was trying to use my online banking at ICICI Bank’s website, I have come across an advetisement in thier page stating that “Don’t want us to call? Register here”. They have introduced an online system where you can register your telephone or mobile number to stop getting any telemarketing calls from ICICI Bank. This is a very good move. A lot of people get annonying calls from a lot of Banks about thier Credit Cards, Personal Loans, etc. It is very good to see that private banks started respecting the privacy of the induviduals. ICICI Bank leads by example in this issue. Will other banks also follow this? Why don’t you register your mobile or telephone number with this to avoid any telemarkting calls from ICICI Bank!
I don’t think this is all that great an idea. What they should do instead is, probably have a system wherein you call a person only if he has registered for that “feature”.
Or probably while procuring a card from ICICI, their application form should have a checkbox reflecting this feature.

The point to be noted is that not all the phone/mobile numbers are the ones that they get with the consent of the owner. There are some agent who hunt for mobile/phone numbers and give the telemarketing guys the database. You know a funny thing? I have just took my Hutch prepaid connection in Bangalore before 10 days. I have started receiving telemarketing calls now. Telemarketing is moving in a direction like spam. Something should be done against it. I don’t know about other cities. But in Chennai, it was worst.

Absolutely no problem with the plugin. The PC that I used/use for posting comment is in VPN and it gets the IS from an US ISP. Makes sense, right!

We work over VPN sometimes and over direct line sometimes and that should make the countries switching between India and US.

One more thing is that this plugin is not able to detect “Novell Linux Desktop”. The previous comment was from a NLD box. It is just detecting it as Linux. But it finds out SuSE perfectly. I need to look into the code to hack on this weekend.
